Baptist Memorial Health Care operates 14 hospitals in West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. With more than 12,000 full-time equivalent employees, Baptist serves the medical needs of its communities, while also playing a significant role in area economies.
Baptist Memorial Restorative Care Hospital is a 30-bed, long-term, acute-care hospital located within Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. The hospital employs approximately 97 team members and is designed specifically for patients who require continued acute care over an extended period of time. Most patients stay for at least four weeks, and the hospital provides a multidisciplinary approach for weaning patients from ventilators and the wound care program.
A study conducted by the Sparks Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of Memphis showed the economic impact of Baptist on the surrounding local economies. The total production of goods and services created by Baptist Restorative Care was valued at almost $24 million; total salaries, wages, and benefits valued $10.4 million; state and local taxes generated by the hospital was more than $800,000; and 185 full and part time jobs were created.

The economic impacts described in this report were derived from Baptist's total net revenues from direct operations during fiscal year 2012 (FY2012) using the IMPLAN© statistical model. In the course of normal operations, Baptist spends these revenues on a wide variety of goods and services, including medical supplies, wages and benefits, contract labor, repairs and maintenance, food services, and non-medical supplies and services. Subsequently, both Baptist employees and employees and owners of Baptist suppliers spend incomes derived via business or employment with Baptist across all spectrums of the local economy.
